Can't argue with that lens either...in my dreams. Here's our King (Southern Africa) taken with a 500mm f/6.3 in the wild :)

I expected this to finish higher based on degree of difficulty in photographing a very wild and shy bird. Big congrats on Honorable Mention finish. |

Now, I have to comment on this. Love the light. Love the BG. Great detail.
I was going to enter my image of the Belted King (even has same green BG) I'm glad I did not because you did an outstanding job. People that never tried shooting this bird will not appreciate this to the full extent. |

Gorgeous King Very similar to our Giant Kingfisher. Nice crown (is that Gel? hehe), catchlight, crisp, great BG and pose. |

nice shot! I see kingfishers all the time in flight and they're just too fast to get a good shot, so don't mind seeing a percher this time round :-) |
