You picked clothing to make this especially challenging. I'd try diffusing/angling one of the lights so you only get one specular highlight in each eye; maybe I'm just not used to seeing two so distinctly.

Your two light sources have caused a nasty shadow all around your nose and between your eyes. I assumed this to be a self portrait, if not ignore my tense. Maybe a little fill flash or third light could eliminate the shadows. Or turn the subject a little to one side.

good work! next time dont quite center the guy, and tilt the forehead a little more towards the camera so it's not quite as 'up the nose' :)

This shot looks like you have lighting on both sides. That kind of makes a funny shadow around the nose and eyes. At first I thought it was an overhead lighting causing shadow from the brim of the hat, but it looks like 2 nose shadows. I'm not positive how it works, but I've seen this kind of thing in other shots, and have seen it suggested that "fill flash" could help. I don't have that on my camera, so I dont know how it works, so if I'm wrong, just ignore me. Otherwise, I really like the portrait. It's very respectful looking, and the angle and framing/cropping are good. Good luck in the challenge.

Not too bad but the lighting is whats holding this shot back. His hat is lost in the background. Also a different shirt would of helped, the pattern is distracting. I don't dislike the shot, his face is in focus and I like the expression. Good work, good luck.

Beautiful studio portrait. I love the soft focus. The hat add to it so much. This is a 10 in my book. Great subject and great shot. PTL
