|I hiked and snowshoed over 9 miles round trip to get this image. Got up at 12:30AM, then drove to pick up my best friend Brian, then drove more than an hour to Brainard Lake, then departed the car at the parking lot at 3:15AM, got to this location around 6:45AM, spent about an hour shooting and waiting for the light to become right. Got cold, packed up, and hiked back to the car. My original intention was to hike a little further than I did, but I ran out of gas, I mean calories. I hit a wall like never before. I almost turned around before taking any photos at all. I'm glad my buddy Brian talked me through so I could go just a little further to complete my objective.
This is two images blended together. I took a five shot sequence with images 1/2 stop apart. I used the sky from one and the land from another. When I got home and loaded my images, I did not think I had captured anything worth keeping. But after about 3/4 of a day of careful editing and advice from my former Long Shots teammates, I came up with what you see.
Thanks to mitalapo, alexkc, Dr.Confuser, RianBotes, Tommy_Mac, and GG3rd for everything they have helped with and advice they have given. And for all the great camaraderie! Long live the Long Shots!
Another era begins at DPC. Happy New Year and may you all have a happy and healthy 2013!
