I live in South Africa and it is Autumn here. So I can tell you that this photo was taken during Autumn which is happening right now. |

For the doubters of the april changes of leaves remember in the southern hemisphere such as New Zealand South Africa etc it is Autumn! |

Comments Made During the Challenge |

i worry a lot of people are going to completely miss the trees in the background and comment solely on the light. In any case, the sky is a touch blown out, give the whole image a hazy feel, i'd much rather a darker exposure and a crisp, tight feel. the placement of the stop light is kinda bland as well, it doesn't have much impact. |

The traffic light seems to be a favorite in the challenge, but having the turning leaves as well as a turning light really emphasizes transition. |

Stop lights are a bit cliche in this challenge, but the change in colours of the leaves in the background add an additional dimension to this picture, although its a shame this picture couldn't have been taken in the autumn. (transition of stop light would compliment the transition of seasons nicely.) I don't like the excessive lighting in the background on the right. Perhaps a different time of day would have solved this problem? |

Was it part of your plan to catch the leaf changes too? |

What I really liked about this picture is how the leaves are all different colors as well. The background is a bit bright for my taste, though. |

this is the best traffic light pic i've seen. not because of the traffic light, but because of the leaves in the background. although, that makes me wonder - was this photo actually taken in april? nonetheless, i gave the photographer the benefit of the doubt and didn't take off any points. |

Interesting light design -- where is it? |
04/26/2002 01:41:00 PM |
Wow!.. but where did you find red leaves in April? New Zealand? |

You captured the challenge well. The background and angle of this photo makes an ordinary subject stand out . I like how you managed to capture the red and yellow lights. They match the trees in the background. Good job. |

Did you try taking this photo at different times of day? The lighting in this one makes the background seem washed out. |

When was this picture taken? Beautiful colors, but in April? |

This looks more like a fall picture than a spring one. |

This has to be a Fall picture. Nicely done, but isn't it supposed to have been taken this week? |

The slowing down of nature and of human traffic! |

Nice play on the theme, lovely colours. |

So is the red man blinking too? |

How did you get fall color in April? Are you south of the equator? |
04/23/2002 10:20:00 AM |
The background is very hazy which makes the image seem over exposed. A different time of day or quicker shutter speed could remedy this. |

cool! spring here, autumn where you are -- i like the double transition, altho i think i'd prefer the light to be off to one side instead of centered, it's nicely done! |

Very cool, color matching is great between the two. Contrast should help with the trees white fade look. |

another yellow stoplight, not that there's anything wrong with that |

Good transition... Looks like the sun was working against you in this shot... The brightness is a little hig on the right and on the left. If your camera has the capability of using a filter on the lens, a polarizer helps trememdously in situations like this... |

nice pair best of the stoplight pics |

My eye is actually drawn away from the subject to the beautiful trees behind. |

was it fall last week, nice shot anyway |

This seems a common theme, but it is really done well with the rich colors of the tree on the left of the signal and green to the right. Nice photo. |

I like the angle and the background foliage. But it looks a little hazy.. |
04/22/2002 12:21:00 PM |
Cool Traffic light. I love the background too, it contains more transition. I would have prefered an angle a few feet back from where you were and I would have composed the light a bit more to the right so its off center and we can see more of those beautiful orange leaves. |

this traffic like is sooo awesome! |

Too bad you could not take this at a different time of day. The background looks a little washed out. |
04/22/2002 07:45:00 AM |
nice attempt - too centrally framed though. |
04/25/2002 01:11:00 PM |
Great background to this - almost a transition in itself with the range of colours of leaves! |
04/23/2002 02:07:00 PM |
nice shot, good contrast between traffic lights and misty trees |
04/22/2002 02:50:00 AM |
Could crop it tighter. Edges seem washed out. |
04/22/2002 01:00:00 AM |
Good shot, though the colors on the left and right are washed out by the direct sunlight. You might try this same shot at a later time in the day. I think it would yield a better overall shot. |
04/22/2002 12:22:00 AM |
Very interesting. There is almost two transitions in this picture. The traffic light, and the tree. The left half seems to be taken during fall, and the right during spring. Nice! |
