Have chosen this one, despite the fact the focus is not spot on on the face. I was testing my new 50mm f/1.8 and was surprised by the bokeh at f/3.2.

I like the composition though and the lead-in lines of the bridge.

Very cute shot despite the focus issue. Great colors and then the texture in the fur makes me want to pet him.

A worthy start to the year. It's surprisingly hard to get the face of a moving bundle of fur in focus. I swear that dogs all have some sort of chip in them that causes cameras to consistently back focus. Agree with all of your own comments about the image. The composition, lighting, bokeh, it's all very nice.

What a sweet pup! I too like the composition and the lead-in lines of the bridge. These little terriers from Scotland are the best! I grew up with a Skye and loved him dearly. I look forward to seeing more images of Hoover.

Hoover is CUTE! :-). The pose is great. Other than the focus, I would have liked some (different) light on him. Don't think it would have made him any cuter, but IMO, probably made the pic better :-).

a cute little guy! i agree on the composition...as you get more comfortable with the camera you should be able to get faster at moving the focus point with your thumb so you don't have to really think about it. The nifty 50 is a great little lens.

Very nice composition indeed, we'll forgive you the focus being just a fraction off.

Nice pose and composition, leading lines in the fence takes eye toward the pooch. Pity focus is off on the eye (it's on the collar/chest?) Great lens, visually as good as the 1.4 I'm told but half the price!

That lens does have nice bokeh. very clean transitions. Good low POV for this shot.

That lens has beautiful bokeh, you're right! I love the blue/white colour scheme here, very appealing.

Lovely pup. i like how you have taken him, think head on would have been too static . Here he looks like he is about to take off and get up to puppy mischief.

Awwww what a cute puppy. May not be in focus on the face but it is still a great photo. I just got myself a new 50mm that I need to play with more myself. Enjoy your new lens.

Cute! The 50mm prime is my favourite lens - well, I only have two at the moment but I'm sure it would my favourite even if I had any lenses. Enjoy it.
