I haven't been around dpc much lately... I'm recovering from the worst bout of fllu I've ever had in my life. It started just before Christmas (of course).
I've never felt so ill (hope you're all saying aaawwww out there ;-)

I'm now back at work, still feel a bit wobbly... but SO much better than I was.

I'm not so good at flower photography but I thought a flower photograph would be good for this challenge. Took me ages (as usual) to get anything decent and my arm and back were killing me from holding the camera for hours (aaaawwww again, please ;-)
Anyway, after I got it finished, I didn't like it...

So it was back to the drawing board again...
In the end and after hours of trial and error I ended up quite pleased with the way my challenge entry turned out.

Congrats on top 10 the HM, Irene. When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was yours. Was a little bit disappointed of the technicals (and no longer sure of your authorship) in fullsize view, probably owed to ISO 800 and f/25.

Beautiful lines using each of 3 corners almost perfectly. The burst is both, the green and then the red. Picture composition is perfect.Excellent use of reflective device. Superb lighting, strong but not too hot. Focus point in DOF chosen correctly,
right where the key light hits the subject in the green, not directly on the red. Remember the red is almost secondary. I see the cake, but there's more, I see the icing. For me this is a great picture.

For me the BURST of color isn't really the red thing...but the loop.
