I really like this photo, the color is perfect for the scene, and the blown out sky works really well, as if the, um, awning? tent? is a gate to a bright white beyond. The complete lack of people adds a bit of desolation to the scene, too... it's unsettling. |

I know this is definately a love/hate photo. In answer to some of the comments, the reason I did not have mourners inthe photo is because it then becomes "someone's" funeral. I wanted to convey that this could be "anyone's" funeral. Besides, taking photos of actual mourners goes against my morals. That is too sacred an event to intrude upon.
The reason for the angle is to convey a straight on in your face impact. I had other angles and perspectives but they seemed too soft to me.
Thanks for the comments on the sepia tone and the focus. I wish this were sharper too and that is the one thing I would have changed.

The tone and sombreness of this photo depicts the darkness of the hour very well |

I know what you are getting at here but I dont see the transition as much as I see the after state. Is this Greenwood as in North Seattle? |

How perceptive of the photographer to grasp the major transition this makes in others lives. |

I get a very sad feeling from this photo. Nice job. |

The image seems too busy. A better centering of the tent, and the boquet of flowers centered directly in the center of the centered tent, might've resulted in better composition. :) |

I like your transition idea here.. I also like the sepia toning of this image. Suggestion: When shooting a shot like this, don't shoot straight on... Add some depth to your photo by shooting from an angle. A little camera tilt here may have also increased the impact of this photo... |

yeah, this is sad, i wish there was a closer more intimate view of what it looked like(not in a morbid way? |

The sepia tone lends a nostalgic mood to an already somber photograph. Very effective. |

Something seems wrong with the balck and white on this. Was this supposed to be sepia? Looks a bit blurry |

Morbid Whats the transition? |

Death is the biggest transistion--but where are the mourners? It would have had bigger impact with the shadows of actual people. |

depressing transition shot. |

I think maybe you should have shot this from further away -- with a field of those flower-marked gravestones setting the atmosphere more than the tent itself. Also, slightly off center to the left. |

the title is the only transition |

needs to be more sharp... |

That was one of my ideas for transition too. Didn't take that picture though. I don't like the color, its like a warm sepia or something. The picture could have been composed better. |
