I feel this should be a little more dramatic than it is. 3 |

There are a few changes that I think would have made this photo better.
1. The horizon line is askew. Straighten up the shot or rotate the canvas in photoshop.
2. There is no real detail in the rocks and foliage. That needs to be brought out some.
3. Color adjustment overall.
4. Longer shutter speed to make the water softer looking.

A very literal take on the title, i find this to be less than it could be.
a more dramatic feel to the rocks and sky would help to elevate this image, where i find it feeling overall muted and flat.
a 5 from me |

I love the bold lines and the detail in the water; works well to give even more feeling to the light. |

Comment Challnege: Interesting colors in the rocks in the foreground, and very nice sky. To me, the picture is bland - like it would make a great background, does not have a subject. |

Can't find a novel by this name, nor does this strike me as a quote.
Image is also rather mundane. composition is the strongest point here - but the tilted horizon affects even that.

4...to my eye, the horizon doesn't look quite level, just slightly off, and the image seems generally flat. I'm not familiar with the book, so I can't make an informed comment on that. |

I'm am not familiar with this novel and to be honest, I could not find any book with this title on google so I will consider this to be not fully meeting the challenge. The image itself doesn't do a lot for me and the tilted horizon is distracting. However, I do like the softness and colour of the sky and the overall composition is nice. 3 |

I don't know the book, but I do like the blues and golds of this palette. I like the simple composition as well with its strong diagonal that breaks the horizon line. 5 |

Don't know the book and can't find it with Google. Doesn't seem to have any reference to the dike plugging story, so regrets for defaulting to a DNMC. The image looks unprocessed on my monitor, but could be improved in a photo editor as with most digital images. Overall, it needs contrast and some selective editing to bring out detail and accurate colors. 4 |

Tilted horizon, poor contrast. The rocks in the foreground are neither on focus nor creating a nice blur effect to emphasize the subject, if any. Very uniteresting for me, sorry 3 |

There seems to be a graininess to this photo? I dunno.
It's a little dark. No real color pop or focus area.
Not feeling it.

The horizon line is a little off, and it seems a little flat but these are minor. Really though, it is mostly lacking an element that really grabs your interest. The sky and the rocks alternately could and don't. 4 |

Don't know that one, couldn't find it either. The light, while subtle, is a little on the dull side which is a pity because post processing could have really primed it (but not HDR) .5. |

Nice foreground and vista! Wish it was exposed a little better...a little dark for my likeing and robs some of the appeal of the overall scene and detail in the rocks. |

Is this a novel? I am totally ignorant about this title in literature.
I mind a lot the tilted horizon. The colors are nice but the picture does not bring enough interest, especially in this challenge

I'm having difficulties finding this novel. I'm only finding a song...
I like the water a lot, but the rocks and the sky seem a little flat. I'm curious what it would look like with a bit more contrast in the rocks. Also, your horizon is tilted.
I do like the diagonal slash that the rocks make in the composition.
Overall, nice picture, but it doesn't really evoke anything as is, and it's hard when I can't find the novel. -5- |
