Threw this together in the last 40 minutes. Has nothing to do with the novel or anything else other than to see how the Milgram experiment on commenting would pan out ;) (it really isn't a Milgram experiment)

Embarrassingly, I have not read the book, though I can sense the "wry"ness of your image. There's something "off" and funny about this photo that I enjoy... like good collage work. 7

Had me thinking okay, interesting ... until the dude (cutout) in the lower left registered.

So I guess catcher in wry would be the wry look on the faces. I personally do not like this image. I am sure there is a reason behind each piece in the image, but it feels very disjointed to me. In my opinion, the composition of the image needs to be changed. I think the lighting of the rye? (only on the top) is good. I don't care for the white guy at the bottom or the reflection of Jimi in the other picture.

This is one of those philosophical shots with a message and a cool, hep factor. I don't get it, nor how it relates to the title, which is a witty take on a classic

Am I missing the story here?

Is this a clever comment on catching those before they fall? Who is the man in the print in the cloth?

What is going on here?

...

I'm afraid that you've failed to engage me, this image doesn't speak to me in any way, and all I see is a strange grouping of images that have little or nothing to do with the book.

Very fetching image. I like the idea of a sort of diorama look but am in two minds abut the Oscar de la Renta look alike portrait that appears added to the picture - therefore your "wry" pun (?)
I find that by cropping from the left adds to the composition

I suppose this is a "wry" take on "rye" but I'm sorry for not getting it. I look forward to some kind of hint when voting is over. Trying even to relate the pictural elements is a struggle. Let's see: black curtain; Hendricks poster; another poster seems familiar but can't place it; a balding smiley face (lurking in the Hendrix Experience museum?); and a sprig of rye? Probably. But what does it all mean? Something obscure, at least to me. I like obscurity. 6

Interesting pic but has nothing to do with the novel.

Just not feeling this photo. Don't understand it.
It's odd, and not in a way that I enjoy.

I'm not sure what to make of this. Odd lighting and angles, strange props and some untold wry humor. I want there to be a story in here, maybe some youthful rebellion but I can't find it. 3

Clever take on the title! Very artistic shoehorn :) I do quite love the paintings! Pity the noggin is there distracting my appreciation of them! ;)

"Green Lady" by Vladimir Tretchikov, Jimi Hendrix and I don't know whose face that is at the bottom. It's not J.D. Salinger anyway, if it is I don't recognize him from other photo's of him. That stalk is not Rye but some kind of reed, perhaps that is why in the title it's "Wry" instead of "Rye" ? 7
