Not much difference between this portrait and the one that Hesitant took which finished 2nd. Both tell a story and have depth. Either one could have easily been 2nd place. Great job. |

This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)
Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.
This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. The hewn from pewter tones and highlights.
2. The honest/authentic looked despite the clearly posed subject.
3. Great lighting.
4. The shadow detail exactly where it is needed.
5. The crispness of the processing.
Super portrait. |

I really like the subject and the concept of a high contrast B&W given his skin texture. It's interesting to see the almost metallic nature of the highlights. Great use of light in this shot. |
