Hi there,
How strange! While I was voting I thought that this was Jogashima. I went there on the Friday for this challenge, and got so carried away with the Kites that I forgot to take Landscape pictures, I had planned on taking the exact same picture as yours! I wish I had cause mine was not really a Landscape! Small World! By the way, I live in Kurihama, how about you? |

Greetings from the Critique Club
I like the way that you have used the portal to frame this seascape but the dark rock at the front has fooled your cameras metering system into overexposing the sky whilst exposing the rock in foreground almost perfectly, the foreground at the bottom could have been a little brighter. I would have liked to see some obvious focal point on the other side of the portal drawingthe viewer into the scene on the other side. Colour and saturation very good other than the sky, the sea is a glorious colour!
The focus is good.
Suggestions for improvement
Try bracketing the shot if you have this option on your camera also a lower apeture and higher iso might help. |

Nice idea however the sky is a bit too bright for my liking. Also, there isn't much to look at through the portal - although in some ways that could work well. Focus is quite good on the rocks and water. |

Nice place you've found here. I think a higher angle, showing more of the other side, might have been more effective, maybe to where the waterline is fully halfway up the "portal." Still, nice shot. |

Boy wouldn't this have been nice with a sailboat or something out there. Nice color and focus. |

Tough lighting with the bright, sun-lit areas and the shadowed foreground. I like the natural framing created by the rock but would prefer a different angle that would show more of the water and rocks in the foreground and less of the washed out sky. |

This picture has so much potential, but the sky lacks of anything interesting to look at, and even detracts from it. |

I love this composition, wonderful! I think it is a little too dark on the stone. You may try to meter the light on the stone instead of on the sea and sky, so that you have a better lighted picture, I think. Nice shot! |

Nice photo but for the purposes of this challenge I would rather see more through the portal and less of the rock frame. Maybe you could also have tilted the camera so that the rock outline was straighter and the horizon obviously on an angle. |
