 This is Laura, a ballerina/dance instructor/waitress and a good friend. I used a couple of flashes and a fixed, snooted light to get the effect, and I must say it's become one of my favorite pictures...

I am honored to have been able to enter this challenge; thanks for all the awesome comments, votes, and faves!

Honestly, the only image in the top 10 that elicited some genuine deeper emotion from me. While other entries around yours were technically excellent, this is the only one where I felt compelled to look deeper and study the image.

After I figured out what was going on, I realized that's what it was. The tutu gives it away.

And I lied, I had three above yours; hanneke, markwiley, and Paul. Yours was my sole eight for the challenge.

WTF does that even mean?

I gave this an eight. I even requested it gets validated. Couldn't figure out how you got the texture on the upper 70% of the image. I think it's an amazing photo. Only thought two others were better, and they finished no where near yours.

I'm so glad it is yours - no doubt this is the best photo of the challenge - it deserved much more. Here there's emotion, technique and it can tell a story, so it's very hard to believe that 9 voters gave you a 5- vote.
