 Thanks for all the comments! I'm lucky enough to live in such a pretty area. My goal when going into the GSMNP is to make a photograph that no one else has made...which is difficult in such a hugely photographed national park. This usually mean getting out of the car and walking/hiking into areas that don't see a whole lot of traffic, car or otherwise.

This was a beautiful moment to witness. I was shooting for the cemetery challenge and had walked back to an old family plot located within Cades Cove. As I rounded a curve in the path, I found a young buck and doe grazing around the old worn tombstones. They saw me, we all frozen, then they took off...a truly fleeting moment. It was one of the moments you wish someone else was there to see it, so you could turn to each other and say..."did you just see that?!" It was pretty awesome.

Thanks for the story, bought a tingle up my spine. I can relate to that also, and it's one of the reasons I LOVE photography so much, these events don't happen a lot, but boy when they do they make you soar.

Heartstopping beauty of captured in this serendipitous moment. Love the warm tones of the morning sun rising over the field to cast a golden tone - and there in one fleeting moment, a deer takes flight. I am sure it was only but a few seconds but the beauty of the moment will forever linger.
