Initial thoughts
Breathtaking, meets the challenge, Color and texture are fantastic!
Composition/ Content
Really super, the lighting is as good as it gets. The color of the rose and greenery against the black really makes it stand out. I wonder what the rose would look like with just a bit more tilt to the left.
Background
The black background is perfect. I see no graininess and it really emphasizes the roses color.
Camera Work - Technical
Focus on the petals is really what made this a killer shot. The texture on that one petal is really a grabber. I noticed that you had folks both for and against the water drops on the flower. I can go either way with it.
Digital Processing - Technical
Perfect.
Fits The Challenge
A beautiful flower is quite a cliche, but done so well.
My Opinion On The Photo
Congrats on the ribbon,it is well deserved. There was a ton of competition in this category and you came through with flying colors. Happy Valentines Day!

The detail in this shot is stunning. Excellent lighting and camera work. Good colors and the water gives it just that extra punch to make it a wow picture.

The "still life" is the classic cliche for both painter and photographer. I wouldnt be surprised that the first photographic image were of a still life.
Stunning.
What you have done here is special. Red and green against black brings out the flower nicely. Couple that with good DOF, meticulous focus and lighting and you have a striking image.
The focus on the near "greenery" of the stem is a little distracting but this is a terrific picture. I hope some day I can do so well.

| I've got to know why put the water on a rose. I, personally, think it is as pretty without and don't feel it adds anything. Just wandering. To the photo. Personally I feel there is too much stem, without anything on it. I would have cropped it just below the rose itself or left some of the green sticking up the stem. I do like the background and think the rose is beautiful and in great focus. I personally like to see the photo from the end of the rose or angled so I can see the end. But that's just me. This is a really good photo of a great flower. |

| A very nice rose shot. Think I would have shown more stem and made it vertical, or shown less stem and left in it's current orientation. |

| Oh Yes!!! Absolutely stunning. Perfectly lit, perfectly exposed, and the added water drops are a very nice touch. The one think I really don't like about it is that I didn't take it. Congratulations on a perfect 10! |

| Those water droplets on the Rose really stand out! Excellent photograph that you've created. The lighting does a fine job and the black background suits this photo pleasingly. Everything is in sharp focus and the colors really stand out making this an excellent shot. |

I think this would have been better if the lighting was softer. I would also do without the border. Soft focus would have been nice with this picture possibly.

| great cliché and great picture! i even forgive you the misspelled title... i would've given it a 10 if it was cropped more on the bottom and less on top... but 9 is not bad either. |
