 Impressionism was inspired, in part, by photography, and so I see photography as an inherently impressionistic art form without any adjustments at all. What I tried to do most for this image though, was to point up the transient light and the painterly feel. I suppose I'll get a lot of 'this is not impressionistic' comments. My intent, however, is NOT to resemble a painting, but to be impressionistic photographically.

This was taken very dark with a long exposure, when I knew the grain would be heightened. The background is a granite countertop. I adjusted the colors to be more true, and adjusted levels. I cloned out some of the pears' skin aberrations. No filters were used.

I don't expect this will do extremely well, but I just love it! I feel it's some of my best work, perhaps simply because I planned and was deliberate about what I would do all along, and it came out better than I had expected. My wife won't let me unsubmit, so I'll be proud to get the brown ribbon, if that's how it turns out!

Congratulations on your 12 finish. This image has punch and most important it has integrity and beauty. Very nice accomnplishment.

Looks photoshopped. Although the effect may also be digital noise at high ISO. I think this would have done better in B/W and softer focus.

I loved this composition. The grain and coloration appear to have been brushed on with actual paint. The edge artifacts on the pear lift it off the canvas and still I have this sneaking suspision that you used a 2500 speed ISO a very small aperture and the lowest form of candle light possible.

The restricted use colors is good as well as the textures. What I find myself doing is looking at whatever it is that the bowl is resting on. It has some great texture to it. This looks almost more from the Renaissance tradition with the precisely outlined fruit and the modeling of the fruit and bowl.

You have beautifully duplicated an impressionistic picture. I would have difficulty differentiating it from an actual painting. Great job.

this is on track, but i don't think it gets all the way there. i think the composition could have been punched up a bit more to make this stronger. as is, there is a lot of uninteresting negative space that doesn't add to the image.

very nicely done! I am giving this a 8 regardless. but I would have liked to have seen something else in the picture.. a couple of leaves or something around the bowl. Very nice picture still. ... reviewed.....bumping you up to a 9
