Greetings from the Critique Club!
I gave this a 7 in voting and am glad I did. There is a lot of story here, with the size and obvious age of grandpa's hand in a firm but loving restraint on the grandson's shoulder. I do find the processing on the hand might be a tiny bit on the hard side. Not that I favour skin-smoothing, which can be done to a ridiculous extreme, but perhaps just a touch less of what you used. The dark tones make this look like it could have been taken at a funeral, with the downcast eyes of the child, as noted by some commenters. If it were a pic from a wedding I'd expect to see some colour and lighter tones.
The juxtaposition for such obvious age and youth may also work against you, though, as the current batch of voters don't seem to care for images that reflect the realities of life like age and wrinkles. I like the composition, but there is a sombreness to the mood that some may find tough to swallow.
Hope this helps, feel free to pm me with any questions.

A very tender moment, I can tell that's one protective grandad, already voted. |

Juxtaposition of textures is slightly creepy but I really like the overall effect and mood. 8. |

Top choice for immediate visual impact implying something tragic. |

The boy is cute but the hand is just fabulous. This could be shown under the definition of juxtaposed. Great capture. |

I like this heavyhearted image. The mottled skin of the large hand with wedding band. Sundays best with cufflinks and silk ties. The boys joyless expression with tousled hair. It all works so well together.
The composition seems a little to tight or not tight enough. Not sure if that makes sense but something is bothering me. If you crop about half way down the boys hair it pulls me in. You could also reveal more from the left side but that depends on what's over there.
Again, I like this shot but the composition is holding it back a little. 7 |

An odd image - could have been taken at a funeral, at a military honor or at a wax museum.
There is palpable sadness and affection and there is also a certain detachment. The blacks and greys are perfect.
