 This is a shot from an abandoned neighborhood in Sharjah. If you Google ‘Sharjah ghost town’, you’ll quickly see photos of these sand dunes that completely overtook these homes. What’s really creepy is that some of these houses still had pictures on the walls! Here's an aerial view from Google Maps:



We drove out to this place not really knowing what to expect—turned out to be a 500 yard walk through dunes to get there, and it was 118 degrees that day. I got all of three shots that were composed and not shaky before I got overheated and had to walk back to the car.

Thanks for all the extra effort Rob! I can't imagine walking in 118 degree heat let alone in sand on top of it. You deserve the blue just for that alone.

Wonderful photo showing the man vs. nature conflict! Given the height of the soil, Nature is slowly reclaiming her space. The patterns on the sand are like waves washing in as it sweeps into the interior of the building. Great light, wonderful detail and composition!
