Greetings from the Critique Club
By Inspzil
Composition - Well in a lot of photos there is a white sky. Its like that for us in the States too especially this time of year. Seems like we don't have blue sky here except for the day after a good snowstorm. Odd how that works. The white sky is definitely not helping matters in this photo. The water color though I think is fine. The concept of where's waldo was to hide him so we couldn't see all of him, but enough of him to tell he's there. This is not particularly well done in that aspect. That is probably the biggest reason this photo did not do as well as it could have. The photo is really pretty dreary without anything to really "wow" the viewers. Maybe framing this shot more centered around the falls with waldo stuck in the corner would've made it a little better. Who knows?
Technical - The waterfall is a little blurred. I'm sure it has something to do with the exposure values due to the crappy day. If the shutter speed were just a tad faster, I think they would've been clearer. The picture lacks some sharpness to it too, which ironically enough may be from trying to sharpen it too much in PS. Your camera takes pretty good clear photos (my wife has one) so it definitely is possible to have this come out well. The exposure value of the dreary day may be playing a part in this too with the shutter at 1/60 s. This is not super slow, but might be enough to make a slight difference, which in the focus world is enough.
Overall - Conceptually not very well done in terms of meeting the challenge. Not a bad photo imagewise, but lacking a little in terms of good colors or interesting subjects. It is a difficult time of the year to be doing much outside. I'm going to go take some pictures outside right now for despair. Good luck in your future endeavours - Bob |

Beautiful photo. Love the dam and the water falls. Georgeous country side. Hope the person walking the dog isn't Waldo. My idea of Waldo is hiding him somewhere in the photo, like where the blue thing is on the left side of the photo. That would be a well hidden, but findable, Waldo. To me this is a wonderful photo but has not met the challenge, and the score must reflect that. If Waldo were hidden this would be a 9. It's one of the best photos as a photo. |

Challenge met, he's walking his dog on the other side. I like your capture of the water, I wonder why it's so brown, lots of rain recently? The diagonal line through the photo by the dam is nice, too, you can kind of zig through the frame long it and zag back along the green and the path on the other side. I think the biggest single thing that you could do to further improve your photo is to crop out the sky. It is very bland and blown out and really just distracts from the photo. Cover it up with a piece of paper on your screen and see what you think. I feel it turns your shot into a very nice panorama-looking photo. :) |

Waldo found. Not very well hidden standing next to the man with the blue pants. (joking about the dog!) Good clear photo with good color. Framing works.

the person's small so i guess he's kinda hidden but i don't think it's right for this category |

It's a relatively nice photo - I like the composition. The person isn't terribly well "hidden". Colours are nice. I wonder if the photo would look a bit better if it was rotated slightly anti-clockwise. |

I like te waterfall that was used in this picture. I think that all of the trees in the background also make it harder to try and find the person, Nice Work |

Ah he was easy to find! It might have been better if your subject was hidden just a little better, maybe behind one of those trees in out the back or behind that lever there on the right. Other than that, nice photo. |

I think that it the falls were in focus a little more, this would be a great shot. |
