critique club review

this is a funny pic. i think that the main reason it got such a poor score is that it doesnt look like much effort was put into it. the lighting looks like on camera flash , the setting and background look like no effort were put in . the clothes on the waldo, same. if you had a good idea, you still have to put some effort into your presentation to get a better score.

Ha Ha ! If scores would be gauged according to humour you would get a 10. Your idea is commendable. The bottle and box are excelent choices of stage props. This appears to be an off the cuff idea that you attempted to capture at the moment of inception. Spontaneity and creativity are worth developing. Unfortunately you may have to compromise some of those exceptional talents in order to acheive a lofty score. And that would make me sad. Anyways, could I suggest a more provocative visual statement by honing in on some of your compositional and lighting cues. If Waldo was sick and tired he might be in a darker more moody environment. Perhaps a spotlight or ray of light from an opened door emphasizing your power props (box and bottle) with ample shadow. Backlighting behind the box to catch bottle highlights for instance. You might even consider doing your image in B&W to further build the mood. Basically you hack and chop away at every visual element that does not aid in speaking your message. In this instance you might consider different lighting and camera position to eliminate the whiteness of concrete, the watch, clothing detail, chair and curtain. I do not intend this as a harsh criticism. Just alternative ways that may affect the presentation and meaning of your image. I believe that you are a good photographer that holds much promise.

Must be hard to drink with that box over the head. Colors ok, though the pic is a bit boring.

LOL! Addresses the challenge-topic and it's quality well. Of course it's more a snap-shot, so technically not too much to write about it. I will still give it good marks because it captures well my thoughts about this "Waldo"-challenge to which I didn't submit.

Won't get it in my book. I know you havae more imagination than this. You did a better job of hiding the bottle than yourself. Good sharp photo, if it was only what they were asking for. Now, go out and get that shot.

I understand your title but it really doesn't meet the criteria of the challenge. Technically the shot is ok, but not exciting to look at.

Har d har har.....Whats with the green mesh around the beer?? Except for the humor factor, not alot of interest going on. (Maybe Waldo's box needs a hole to feed the beer through? or a face drawn on the box???) 6 Swash

ok

This screams snapshot. The thing on the wall behind Waldo's head is distracting, adding to the overall hasty quality of this photo.
