Greetings from the Critique Club!

FIRST IMPRESSION:
Very bright red picture which is always associated with Valentine's Day and love. It's very red but also have some bright complimentary colors.

COMPOSITION:
Cropped perfectly and centered in an appealing way. It's not cropped too close and has a very symmetrical feel to it.

TECHNICAL:
The focus is right on, and the DOF is very small which also adds interest to the picture. If the entire tower of candy had been in focus it may not have been as interesting.

OVERALL:
Great shot for the challenge. The very bottom heart is cut off which does bother me, but it's overall good enough to surpass a small imperfection. That could possibly be a way to improve the shot. Very nice! :)

Good luck!

Challenge met. Great use of the candy hearts! I think you arranged them in a heartshaped format, but that's not easily visible. Instead, it looks like the pile of hearts is a little uneven. Did you try a more traditional arrangement? As for the technical quality, it is good, I like tha the ones at the bottom aren't quite in focus, adds to the feeling of depth. The red background and the border works well here.

Nicest one so far of the hearts pics. I am not sure that I like the dark red background with the pastel candies, though. Good work stacking all those candy hearts!!

I've heard it but don't know what Mah Jongg means. Sorry. Still a nicely focused photo. To me it appears a little crowded and busy, maybe overdone with the hearts. But that may be what "MJ" means. Who am I to say.

Good idea, well executed. I can picture this being used in a commercial of some sort. The shadows might be a tiny bit harsh, but I love the background, idea and composition. 8

a higher Fstop number would have given more DoF... then all of the hearst would be in focus... great idea with the hearst though

They sure look sweet. I'd like to see a bit more foucs. The picture looks a bit too busy, maybe just draw a hart with the hearts? (1 layer). Good luck. Jacko. 6

yay!! I love Mahjong, Haven't played it for a while. Have you played the Kyodai version of it. It's shareware and you can download it for free. If you haven't do a search, it's a good one. Lot's of tile sets.

I don't think the background is a good color for the "pastel" colors of the hearts... perhaps pink or plain white would be better...
