Challenge: What Do You See When You Close Your Eyes? (Extended Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-5DS R
Lens: Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
Date: Jul 16, 2020
Date Uploaded: Jul 16, 2020

When I close my eyes, I often hear a voice, talking about past experience, about what could have been "if", or what will be next "if". I suppose we all spend some time, thinking about our lives, imagining alternate realities. Very often, I surprise this voice exploring paths I would probably not have by "myself", if that makes any sense. Sometimes, the voice is really directive, explains, insists.

Strength or weakness, I'm not sure. Nonetheless, when your conscience starts harassing you for some action, it is hard to disobey. If you do so, there is no use trying to convince yourself that such or such task is pointless: it will come back, again and again, until you proceed. When this arrives, you're not that much in control anymore: your conscience is. Are you still yourself? Is it just a part of your mind, or is it another will, living there in your head? I'm not sure. But that question was worth an image!

Technically, this composite uses relatively few photos (compared to my usual): 3 main ones, and a few other for texture and blending purpose. During the shooting session, I had to attach a hook to my upper lip, to emulate the face deformation (which I erased in post, obviously), but it worked as expected. I lacked time to color grade it properly, so I decided that for once, a B&W conversion would do (even if I have spent a fair amount of time working on dodging and burning details).

Thanks for watching and for the kind feedback, I appreciate it very much.

I thought of shaving it, but my wife would probably kill me. I'm cloning my hair out each time.

Me, too, that's what I always do. It's tedious. ;-)

Ha yeah I̢۪m with your wife, you have a good set of hair better to keep it. And that hook you held your lip up with sure sounded nasty, the things you do, kudos to you.

So well put together as usual. I would like to have just a glimmmer of your thought processes and imagination. I can really relate to the message here, it happens to me all the time when I am trying to go to sleep. Congrats!

I̢۪m wondering do you shave your head for every image that you take of yourself hairless, or is it a fleshly cap? I̢۪m guessing the second, not surprised it got the blue.

Congratulations.

Very creepy the way you blended your other self to your head. I'm looking forward to the notes. Just trying to figure out why you're lifting up your upper lip, and what the hidden meaning is. Probably the blue.

What's with the 3rd person viewpoint? Is this something you'd actually "see" when you close your eyes? It's very cool from an Extended "photoshop" perspective. Just not what I was expecting from this challenge theme.
