Thank you for the ribbon!

roz: it was shot from a pier, Ocean Beach Pier in San Diego. I was lucky with the weather, sun in the right place and big smooth waves. And a couple of great surfers nearby. The rest was easy, almost like shooting fish in a barrel :).

I was torn between the shot I submitted and any of these two. Still not sure which one would perform better

the other shots are certainly dramatic, but not a patch on the yin yang of the opposing arms, and the similarly behaving water dynamics. art wins over action think I.

only cropped about a half, he was not very far. It is a wonderful lens, the first super-zoom I've had that does not disappoint in sharpness or clarity throughout the entire zoom range.

Whilst I have the 40-150 pro f2.8 and the 1.4 teleconverter I find that the images become soft with the 1.4tc and need to be stopped down to f5 to get the sharpness back. I have been experimenting by shooting both Raw and Jpeg and using the x2 digital zoom for my surf shots. Generally do this when I am shooting with the lens fully extended to 150mm. So with the crop factor added and then the 2x digital zoom I get a focal length of 600mm with images that are sharp from f2.8. Have been pleasantly surprised with the results. If I need more reach I add the 1.4tc. The image I submitted was one using this method. I also have the 12-100 lens and I will use this when travelling to get extra reach which makes this lens even more versatile. The Jpeg files are quite large (approx 8mp). Anyway, just thought I would mention it in case you haven't thought to give it a try. I won̢۪t use it for everything but it̢۪s handy to have

All great shots Lev. I'm jealous of your location for these. I have to shoot from the beach for most of my surf shots but occasionally I go somewhere there is a pier available which gives a nicer angle of view but my shots are local and more often from the beach. I shot some fabulous images they day BEFORE this challenge began. Always the way.
