This is an alluvial pattern on the beach sand. About 30cm across, as I recall. When water slowly seeps through the sand that is a mixture of grains of different densities and colors (like in this case), very interesting patterns often emerge.

P.S. Forgot to mention, it is inverted (in the B<->W sense), so the "trees" appear to stick out of the surface, while in reality they are carved in it by water. Here is the original photo, straight from the phone

P.P.S. I have a whole series of those (in better quality, too), scroll to the bottom of this collection

absolutely fabulous Lev ..
it really is my favourite in the challenge .. so artistic and definitely abstract .. the textures and shapes are magic ..
so well seen ..

btw I'm very confused about the low votes .. even understanding different opinions and preferences .. as this is amazing ..:)

btw2 .. this would look incredible printed . blown up .. and hanging in an art gallery .. possibly with other photos at your own exhibition .. :)

I had one like this once. It was an egg cream clinging to the inside of a glass. Congrats on the hm!
