 Shot this while waiting for a tow after my motorcycle broke down on this lonely stretch of hwy 34 in South Dakota. Location 44.4133564,-101.8423981

I originally submitted a color version of this, but after playing around with conversion to B/W using Channel Mixer, I realized the grayscale version was much more dynamic... so I pulled the color version in favor of the grayscale. It's looking like that was a good choice.

Really gratifying to get a ribbon for this one given that being in the right place to get this shot was purely chance, but also given that there were some really outstanding shots in this challenge.

And yes black-and-white was an excellent choice.

This flat plain blossoms into a bounty of lines, as per the challenge, and also gives so much more delight. The road and verge lead to a vanishing point. Then there are the fence lines and the vertical lines of the storm issuing from a horizontal feast of clouds. Very "North By Northwest"-ish. The varied parts nicely come together.
Personal favorite of the challenge.
