 Mexican food ingredients, with the green/white/red formed by the peppers and ice as a reference to the Mexican flag.

Inspired by the "Frozen food with string beans" still life of Irving Penn.

Put different ingredients in the freezer, then used a hair blower to remove the top layer to get structure in the food, because I did not like the result with the food fully submerged. Light from below through frosted glass plate, softbox from the right.

The Mexican flag was planned. Originally I froze two red peppers because of the nice color punch, but before setting up the scene I checked what the flag was and then decided I had to use red and green.

I like it very much - even more than the original frozen food by Irving Penn - it is more eye candy with the fresh colors.
Did you plan to create the Mexico flag from the beginning or did you choose the title after making the shot?

I dont have a problem with lighting here. That's precisely the interesting peculiarity of many of Penn's still lives: they look like abstract 2D paintings

Great idea. I agree with Lev. Also, it seems to me that the lighting is a bit harsh which takes away the 3 dimensionality of the composition.

Good idea but I feel that the rectangular ice block in the middle was a mistake,it blends in with the white background and breakes the composition apart
