absolutely love Irvin Penn's photos .. only learnt about him when this challenge was announced .. wished that i could mimic his style .. found that really difficult ..

i especially like the way he posed ppl in unusual places where walls joined etc ..
so i wanted to do something a little bit weird ..

initially i was going to use toddy because i didnt have a human to help .. but fortunately Fred called in .. :)

after voting ..
blow me over with a feather .. never for one moment thought this would be on the home page ..

this pic had the weirdest voting i've ever received .. started really high then tanked dramatically ..
i wondered if ppl felt it didnt satisify the standard edit rules .. and i do feel some of the very low voters might have gone back and bumped this up ..
anyway .. thanks for the bumpy ride .. always good for my self development . !! .. ;)

if ppl want to know how this was created .. i got Fred to stand against the wall holding the box .. i had asked the sc if i could remove his legs in a standard edit and they unanimously said yes .. even to say i could remove his hands too . !! ..
so i did .
the rest is just bnw edit with overlay textures ..

I appreciate your portrait so much more after reading your explanation. It’s really creative and a work of art.

Cool portrait Roz! What dings it down for me a little bit, Fred in the box feels a little flat, I actually wasn't sure if it was a live person or a large print. Perhaps you could come closer and use a wide-angle lens to emphasize perspective and three-dinensionality. Still, great work, congratulations!

Thanks for the explanation of the "how to". I voted as-if legal and it is good that it is (although my personal preference is to achieve results without too much editing, but that is a different discussion)

Disturbing, a bit like Irving himself. My pick for the red.

I assume it is legal in standard editing (i.e. not a printed picture in a box) and wonder how you did this. I like the idea. The harsh light, the background and the strong direct look is in the style of Irving Penn, I think. Small thing: I find the printed brand on the top lid of the box distracting.
