 Wow my first 7 score so a PB. Thank you everyone who voted on this & thank you for the comments

The event that these girls are racing in is surf boat racing.They start outside the boat. When the starters gun fires, the girls jump in first & start rowing followed by the sweep who is the man doing the steering. This race is known as the long course. In this particular race they row 400 meters out to sea around a buoy & back again to the finish line close to the beach
