The sky seems over-exposed. The clouds have no shape/dimension to them.

Nice sky ... good contrasts

sorry not interesting...

Great texture, I would have stood a little bit further away to get more details, and waited for the sun to come out to get contrasts...

Has a good abstract appearence and good composition too.

is this Iceland? looks like the end of the earth to me. compelling!

A very tough lighting situation - open shade and hot sky. WIth a digital camera, it's better to expose for the highlights and then retrieve the shadow detail later in software - just the opposite of film. Good detail in the wal.

Nice angle! Like the wall. Good focus. Was there anything on the wall that could've held the eyes interest a little more? A bug, or bird, or plant growing through a crack? Also, the sky seems a little overexposed.

nice rugged wall but with no clue as to what it is it loses something. I think the skys a little over exposed too

I would have scored this one higher -- I think the idea has possibility -- but the clouds are so blown out -- it's almost as if you have blue clouds in a white sky -- did you have to play with the levels or the camera's metering to get the wall to show up at the expense of an overly bright sky? Maybe shooting at another time of day when the son could either create highlights and shadows on the wall -- or at least make the sky a little less bright...

nice, this is like being on an alien plant

Good texture in the wall. I wonder if by framing it vertically, you could have composed it so that the line between wall and sky was not so close to the middle of the picture - "rule of thirds".

If you look at it long enough it almost looks like rocky terrain. Cool.

Hmm... lovely, vibrant colours and textures, but the photo seems kinda featureless.

Great focus. The sky even looks sort of surreal. You did a good job.

I'm ready to climb. Interesting rock.

I really like the contrast in this pic...Well done!

the clouds add to the picture.

a little less angle on this would've been better i think

This is a nice interpreation of this challenge. I don't know why but this photo just doesn't grab me. I don't see anything wrong with it on the technical side, so my distaste is on the subjective side. I wonder what I am looking at. It appears to be a wall of some sort but I'm not entirely sure. Maybe in the future, the subject of your challenge could be more distinct and more visually impacting. Keep up the good work!
04/29/2002 08:21:00 AM
sky is very overexposed, so you've lost a lot of the detail in the clouds. Maybe exposure compensation on your camera could have helped ?

I like the detail in the stone, nice.
