Thanks to all for taking the time to comment.

And Langdon, I know how you feel. While I was not terrifically thrilled with this shot (I probably would have given it about a 6 or 7), some of the shots which I really liked and gave my highest ratings to, did astonishilgly poorly, finishing 37th and (gulp) 93rd! Go figure. I found myself saying the same exact thing about their photos. Well, I'm glad you and a few others out there liked it.

I really have no clue how you came in 36th. This shot was excellent and represented so much of what the world is today.

Wow. Great shot, I think it's the best I've seen so far (83/102). I don't think I can sum it up with words. Very well done.

Nicely worked photo.

i like it for a flower shot

Nice, realistic and sad...

Great picture. I like the contrast between the two main poits of interest.
05/02/2002 11:39:00 AM
Very good depth of field and good composition

funny stuff

I like the menacing nature of the wheel, it looks like the dandelions are about to be crushed.
05/01/2002 01:03:00 PM
Great shot, perfect depth of field. You really know what is going on in this photo.

Great story. The top doesn't contain much of interest - maybe a longer focal length would have helped there, and also gotten rid of that little sliver of blow out sky at R. The dandelions draw the eye away from the minor annoyances, though. Very good.

I can imagine myself looking from the ground up in this shot. I feel like I'm in the frame. Good idea. Good exposure. Looks very natural. Nice work. I rated this shot high.

Being a dandelion is scary if you look at it from that perspective! ;o) Nice shot.
04/30/2002 03:33:00 PM
what a brave photographer you are.
Unless of course the truck was stopped.
It may be art but is it worth dying for?

Cute idea. Somehow I think that I might like it better if the flower was closer to the wheel, and then less of the upper part of the tractor would be seen...
04/30/2002 09:02:00 AM
Good focus on flowers.
04/30/2002 12:33:00 AM
Nice sharp image. But, I dig dandelions with a table knife! A Cat tractor is overkill!

I like this pic...the choice of subjects and title are excellent. Well done!
04/29/2002 05:36:00 PM
hahahahaha, that is cool, nice originality
04/29/2002 01:29:00 PM
very nice

Ok.. I think I'm ready to comment on this photograph now :) Ya see... i work for Caterpillar, Inc. who may have been the maker of that monster truck in the background... But u know what? This is an excellent photograph and I like your interpretation of this challenge... Nice job!
04/29/2002 11:18:00 AM
Nice, I like how it shows the flower as being delicate and behind it something very distructive. Did you think of cropping off some of the top?
04/29/2002 10:55:00 AM
very nice, by having the background out of focus really adds to the pic.
04/29/2002 10:36:00 AM
Very nice! The depth of field is very effective, the colours and lighting are wonderful, and the framing of the two flowers is evocative. The photo with its title tell a little narrative and create a sense of tension.
04/29/2002 10:33:00 AM
Nice flowers. The background is distracting
04/29/2002 09:38:00 AM
I've looked at this twice now, and I've changed my first opinion of it :) I really do like the colors and the depth, and I was way too harsh on pictures for not having a sharp upward angle at first. Nicely done.
04/29/2002 08:54:00 AM
tells a story! good entry...

This almost brings a tear to my.
