By the way, I rated the photo as a 10.

Very surprisng to me that you placed no higher than 15th? In my view the model adds to the enjoyment of the shot. Keeping her out of focus keeps the attention on the product, but her presence adds to the enjoyment of the ad and grabs your attention amongst all of the clutter in the advertising world. Keep up the good work.

Great use of the focus, and excellent title. I think the lighting could have been done better. I feel like the shadows take something away from the image. She's the background, but I think this is closer to portrait lighting. I guess I just think that more color would have added to the photo (but I really do like it nonetheless). Nice touch with the rose.

Wonderful shot. I just love the flower, and the girl looks so happy. I think my eye wants to look at both as the dominant subject... and in this case, that's good. The product and what the product do!

Nice shot, but the model and rose just doesn't do much to sell the shot. I think camera ads typically feature crisp photos... and while the lens is crisp, the mode/flower are not.

A subtle sales pitch that works for me,

Nice shot - very colorful and nice focus... The lighting itself of the camera, though, is a little too dark - just a touch. The way the lighting in the shot is, though, it would probably be difficult to get better lighting on the camera. A nice shot overall, and deserving of a high score.

Nice job on this one! Looks like a Canon Ad to me :-)
05/11/2002 01:32:00 PM
I'd have just titled it "Canon photography..." as thre's nothing distinctly "digital" shown. And I'd maye have tightened it up a little so as to not have to crop through her eye -- but that's just my cropping style...

Great photo

Very nice

For some reason, I feel that the model should have been left out. But your point is clear, and the photo is good.

Nice mirror work!. If you'd moved slightly to your left to get both eyes in and had more even lighing on your face it would be about perfect.

I like the use of color contrasts - the red rose with the blue reflection on the lens and the black lens with the light background.

a little too much soft focus don't you think?

interesting idea that could be improved by having more light on the product, as it is my eye darts back and vorth between the girl and the lens, by emphasizing the lens more with better light, that might not be a problem

Very nice and the lens is cool too. I can definitely see this in an ad.

nice shot, and pretty girl! a couple comments. if the lens could be brighter, would be great, and also your depth of field is just a little too shallow- at min the whole lens shoud be in focus. im giving this an 8.

I really liked this one. Was it done in a mirror? cos if you look closely at the edge of the lens there seems to be a ghost lens ... I would have moved the camera across ever so slightly and gotten rid of the edge of the lens coming back on the right hand side. I would also have moved the girl (if it isn't yourself) over a little more to get the whole face (or at least both eyes) and close the gap in the middle. Oh and there's a very small bit of camera at about 8 o'clock. Geez I'm being picky ... sorry ... I still like the photo ... honest :)

Nice idea. I think the title works perfectly with the model in the background. The short depth of field keeps the focus (no pun intended) on the primary subject. Nice composition, lighting, and exposure. I rate this photo a 10,

Nice photo, but the connection between the zoom lens and the woman with the flower is a bit tentative. Is she intended to be the subject of a photo? The depth of field is really effective though, as well as the purple reflection in the lens. I like it :)

Nicely done!

Nice idea and pretty lady. Something is wrong, though. I know you wanted the lense in focus and the lady out, but it makes me feel like I'll take pictures that look like she does if I buy your lense.

I'd rather have seen the girl in focus... I don't care much about the camera.. umm.. well, I guess the girl isnt for sale :) Ok.. This is a very nice shot. One of my favorites for this challenge !! Good job...

pretty woman and merchandise.. uhmm, where is the creativeness??
05/06/2002 12:57:00 PM
Good title, good idea. Nicely done.
05/06/2002 12:56:00 PM
I really like this shot! Too bad overlays are cheating, as I would have liked both subjects "in focus", but really nice. (two small issues with the camera part of the
photo (1) part of the camera outer ring shows double; (2) the right edge lettering peters out.) Photo 9 Advert 9 Creativity 9 total 9

So far my favorite, good lighting, looks the most like an actual advertisement shot.
Is that the pro 90? can't think of any other canons with a 10x zoom

I like this idea, but you need more depth of field so that the woman and rose (i.e. the "beauty in life") are also in focus.

nice shot but maybe I would want to see the quality that the lens produces before I was tempted to buy?

This is done well. It is attractive and I like the out of focus woman in the backgruound. It was a nice touch.
