 I was downtown again, sitting on the riverwalk doing my favorite thing: people watching. I spotted this precious little girl, and her adoring daddy playing together, and was able to get this shot without them seeing me. I know the lighting is harsh -- it was in the brightest part of the day, but when you're taking candid shots, you don't have the luxury of choosing perfect lighting. But the picture touches me so much, I decided to submit it, hoping the composition and subject matters compensates for the harsh lighting a little. I think this is a very lucky little girl, and judging by the look on her face, I think she knows it :)

They were sitting in front of a dark covered terrace,so I was able to increase the shadows again in Raw to make the background black. I did have to clone out a couple of distractions in the background, like the knob of a chair, and some bright pink writing on the thing she's leaning up against, but nothing major.

Awwwww! I wish this were just a tad more in focus and the highlights weren't quite so blown out, but this is nonetheless an adorable photo. It looks like there might have been some burning to blacken the background, as I can still see some random brush strokes of a lighter grey around their heads, so that's something to perhaps fix at a later date. The composition is excellent, either way, and this is a wonderful candid capture! Nice work - you framed this really well.

I can see terrible yellow flares in this image, probably from dodging :( too bad since it's a beautiful moment...6 anyway

Very cute. Focus is a bit soft and the white of the shirt blown out. I think the lighting is a little harsh.

Lovely capture- dad looks like he's got a tiny bit of motion blur and the little one's shirt is blown out, so maybe a slightly faster shutter speed?

This is one of the few pictures in this challenge that shows the emotion of love between two people. Not that it was a requirement, but you shot something out of the ordinary. It's a stand out photograph that requires a high score. Good luck in this challenge!
