This is one of those photos that, by itself, is a very good photo, but the title and "photographer's comments" take it to a whole new level by letting the viewer really connect. After reading your comments, I have to say that I like this a lot. Thank you! |

superb in many ways. Him looking into the light, the swollen or supported ankles, the pigeons, the stick ... pretty amazing pieces that lead the viewer to make conclusions and ask questions. A great find. The hazy feeling is nice but the bricks in the foreground seem a tad out of sync with it. Compositionally perfect and great without question. 9 |

very good photo, I like the way the three birds and tha man are looking in one direction. it makes me wonder what they are looking at. I also like his very short trousers - it's somehow very touching. very nice and thought-provoking capture. |

I LOVE the composition on this! The way Jack is sitting on the stairs with a cigarette in his mouth looking in the same direction as the birds, the walking stick and plastic bags next to him makes for an interesting story. I hope that he has had a nice life but from this picture I am guessing he has not had an easy one. Wonderful capture 10! |

Nice composition, though I'd like to see a little more space to the left of the frame. With the bird facing that way, the crop is just a little too tight. If the birds were looking toward the right, this one would have worked out just fine. I like your use of vertical and horizontal lines in the frame to lead the viewer's eye in and around. It looks like you used a little too much dodging on his shadows, as I can see some pixelation and odd highlights. Nice work meeting the challenge, and the title plays well with this one. I like that you gave him a name, thus sharing a little more of his life with us. This adds a great deal of interest and emotion to the image. Strong work, just work on the post-processing a little more. |

I love that his shoes are so shiny. I don't get the impression he's homeless. I do get the impression he takes pride in who he is and how he looks. |

i find it funny how even the pigeons have turned their back on jack marvin...poor jack. dark areas seem a bit overprocessed as you tried to salvage the details |

He's really dressed up, even gloss on his shoes. Well done getting him and the pigeons all looking the same direction. Perfect. |

I love the lighting. His profile is wonderful. If the birds weren't there, it would lose some of the impact. Great balance between them and him. I love it. |
