Thanks for the critique Heather. I was taking other pictures close to sunset when I spotted this red bucket that was on a stretch of sand surrounded by water as the tide came in. I gave it the title "Lonely Bucket" as I thought it had been deserted by some children that were playing nearby. The sunlight was really hitting the side of the bucket at the time which prompted me to take it quickly. I cannot remember if I saturated the colours any further, but if I did, I would have stated it. I'll look at the original later on to be sure. As for the border, I wanted a simple black/grey one but that was how it came out on Microsoft Digital Image Pro which is what I use. I think I am limited on what frames I can use but I'm still learning! All comments are valuable to me. |

I really like the angle and framing/cropping here. The way the bucket is in the upper left and the water/beach kind of seperates is very neat. I like the diagonal in combinateion with the horizontal as well.
The color of the bucket is bright, which makes it a bit difficult to see and also hard to tell if it's in focus or not. It seems soft, but the shovel is in good focus, so it makes me think that it's the color that just makes it appear out of focus.
Lighting seems very good. Looks like it was a good day to be out taking pics. I like the reflections of the rocks in the water. That adds an extra interest.
I think the photo fits the minimalism category cause while there are very interesting things to look at, it's all very simple.
The border seems uneven to me. There's a white stripe on the top and left, but not on the bottom or right. This could be the way I'm looking at it, I'm not sure, but it does look odd to me.
Overall a very nice shot, maybe decrease saturation on tue bucket a bit to tone down that brightness of the red, but definately a neat find.

that bucket doesn't look so lonely. he's got a shovel friend. and sandals??
Would have liked to have seen a crisper focus on the gang. otherwise, good stuff. |

Red seems a bit too saturated. Makes the color on the bucket look fake. |

the red of the bicket is lacking a lot of detail, it almost looks flat in comparison to everything else. |

the focus on the bucket would be greater if the sea at the top of the image was removed completely.
Other than that nice image |

Excellent fit for challenge. The tiny bit of bright color is fabulous with the other subdued colors. Nice highlights and reflections. Interesting background and foreground, but not noisy or busy. |

He isn't lonely, he has a shovel. I think you have to much here. You could compose to illiminate the forground stuff. |

i think the bucket is too strong that it becomes a distraction compare to its surrounding. 7 |
