A drinking glass that was found in my kitchen. Taken with my Canon EOS 20D, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM, Canon Speedlite 580ex flash on the off-shoe cord, on a tripod. Location was the coffee table in my living room, mid-day. Modifications: curves, conversion to B&W, and resize. Comments very welcome; it's my first submission.

Interesting abstract.

I don't think a macro shot doesn't belongs to minimalism. I believe the subject should occupy a small portion of the frame, instead of a small portion of the subject that fill the frame.

Not much 'wow' in the shot. Maybe a different lighting setup or point of view would help. 4

It takes up most of the shot.

Love how you have lit this...composition is excellent. Very interesting.

not much effort gone into this one, 1

Interesting. Only thing I might point out is that the highlight on the rim is a little overblown.

The white strip down the right side should have been cropped off. The glare is a bit distracting but it helps bring depth to the glass which I like.

The "glow" on the right side is a bit distracting. I like flow of the lines, but the dust or scratches (not sure which they are) detract from them.

This is a bit too dark (imo).

Excellent Minmialism Idea, if the glare to the right was not there it would be perfect.

Meets challenge description, 10pts
Meets definition of Minimalism, 10pts
Technical, 5pts the rim of the glass in not sharp enough for my liking and there seems to be some artifacts in the image.
Artistic, 7pts I like the placment of the subject within the four sides of the frame.

average score 8pts

Simple and effective

Create an image where your subject is the strong point of the image, but only occupying a very small portion of the image space. I think you did "MACRO".

not a strong subject for minimalism
