Love the texture and grittyness of the hand and the lighting of the grain of rice. 10 |

What a unique approach to this theme. I really love the idea. The only thing that bothers me just a bit is the cleaner spot on his palm around the grain of rice. I still am giving this a 9 because I love the idea and the approach you took and the focus and colors are dead on. |

nice shot, is the center of his hand brighter because of lighting? |

That's a very strange image. Beautifully cropped, luscious tonalities, social commentary up the wazoo in a minimalist setting. Strong entry. |

the concept is strong, but the pose feels awkward. besides the rice grain, it also bothers me that the highlights feel muddy |

This is a wonderful photograph. but (forgive me) the highliting of the grain of rice just doesn't work for me. While I really like this image, if you had been able to get a natural beam of light to illuminate that grain it would have been spectacular. I'm not sure that happened here. Nevertheless, a very good try. |

I think this is a good idea, and the light on the grain of rice is very appropriate. I also think that the hand is a bit too much of an "attention getter" for this to properly work in minimalism. Not sure, but that's my impression. ~6 |

Nice effective shot. My eye went to the grain of rice almost immediately thanks to the colour and size contrast. That was before I read the title and I only looked at the title to findout what the subject was. |

How did you light the area of the hand around the rice?
A very powerful picture if put in the right context. I would have cropped it more on the left, and looked for a bit more space on the right and bottom.

This is a great shot for this challenge. The way you've highlighted the rice really helps it stand out, although it does look just a little forced. Perhaps a softer border between the light and dark would have helped with that. Also, the excess dark background on the left side of the hand is a little distracting. A square crop with a centered composition might have improved this a little. Still a fantastic shot, thouth. |

I am missing something here, I dont see the significance of the rice. I have looked at it for a while though so you get credit for that. Hard work little pay, maybe? The finger tips could be a little sharper. |

I'm not sure how you got the lighting on this, since the grain of rice seems to be emitting light (tagged it with a laser?), but the effect is spectacular. The hand looks almost like it was carved in great detail in stone, and creates an interesting backdrop for an obvious subject. 10. |

Rescued from a burning building??
Not sure what's going on with all that black soot or burning. Too much for my liking, but I like the concept and the composition. |
