Greetings from the Critique Club
By Inspzil

Composition - Very well done! This is an interesting take on the wind results, not to mention creative. I really think you did a great job framing this shot. The detail is incredible. I don't have much to say about this except that it is exceptionally well done.

Technical - The f/11 really did you well here by making the flash not so bright and the DOF great enough to keep the seeds and the base in perfect focus. I can't believe you used flash, I'm assuming it was indirect. This is just an awesome shot. This one is all about the skill of the photographer, and not just being in the right place at the right time (like me :) !!). Very well done!

Overall - Well this is just more of my singing your praises on this shot. I don't have much to add. What I would've done different is gotten something terribly out of focus and part of it would be too dark. So its good that you took this and not me. Congrats on a fantastic shot. This could win a ribbon any given week, you just went up against some quality shots. Good luck in the future - Inspzil

You have created a truly breathtaking shot! I love the depth and detail; the tonal rance and... really everything! Relationship to the challenge is a bit tenuous, in my opinion, but not to the point of marking it down. Fantastic! --10

I really like this shot!!!!
04/20/2003 01:41:18 PM
not really seeing the wind in this image. a very gentle breeze could effect this subject. Interesting but not fully in the frame and that distracts I do like the right side good detail and lighting on the green round part as well as some of the stems that are coming down. Light blown out of out of focus parts in background and that distracts because your eyes are drawn to light and automatically go tot he lightest part of the image...in this case out of focus.

Gorgeous macro shot!!!!This is exquisite!

Very good detail. This is the most creative, interesting and illustrative photo of this weeks challenge that I've seen. (10++ if you got a seed pod just in the act of dislodging!! *sun and moon request) Score upgrade to 10. Rob the Swash

Great detail. Doesn`t really look like it`s windy but still a good image.
04/17/2003 11:37:59 PM
Nice macro. I like the black background and the framing. Maybe a simple boarder would add here. (9)
04/17/2003 01:50:40 PM
Nice image, good idea.
04/17/2003 04:14:20 AM
this looks really really good! it was in motion when you snapped it, right? so how'd you do it so clear?
04/16/2003 10:38:07 PM
Great idea! Even better would be to catch one of those seeds flying in the air. The clarity and focus are fantastic. That one seed to the right really brings it home, it looks like its just about to blow away. Great work!
04/16/2003 08:08:55 PM
One of my perfect 10 for the challenge...Perfect composition, amazing lighting and above all absolutely beautiful concept. I want a ribbon for this image.
04/16/2003 07:50:32 PM
Beautiful. Very elegant and mysterious looking. Great macro.
04/16/2003 05:21:14 PM
great macro. Bit of a stretch on the "fits the challenge" portion of the program, but I still really like the shot. Composition is nice with the bit of negative space to the left, and that one lone seed hanging precariously from the side of the dandelion. Lots of great detail.
04/16/2003 08:18:14 AM
Nice close-up study. Perhaps would improve if a little brighter (but perhaps not). Good use of DOF.
04/16/2003 07:03:00 AM
Excellent picture. Original idea. Beautifully layed out.
04/15/2003 11:51:26 PM
this is cool. i appreciate this picture as i think it falls directly into this category. nice effect of weather. btw.. good picture and great macro.. needs a frame and a saying like those at Succesories about changing or something.
04/15/2003 07:20:14 PM
Wow! Sry ,but this is really a good shot.
04/15/2003 05:59:53 PM
Nice sharp focus. But I think it's up too cose to really get the wind effect. Still, I see this near the top of list come next week.
04/15/2003 03:05:42 PM
sorry but i don't understand why its call wind. nice image
04/15/2003 09:53:53 AM
nice print
04/15/2003 09:25:41 AM
An excellent macro, you've done this one very well! The composition/crop is very effective. The detail of this plant is so sharp, brought out more by the shallow DOF you used. Congratulations on a amazing image.
04/15/2003 08:05:05 AM
Wow! This is a great macro shot. I can almost feel the wind myself. In my top 10 this week. -danny
04/15/2003 12:02:48 AM
It's a great macro shot but I don't get the feel of weather (or wind).
04/14/2003 11:30:23 PM
Oooooh. Such detail and the lighting is excellent!
04/14/2003 10:09:18 PM
Very nice macro shot..I'll have to give you that. The lighting is perfect and there is great detail and focus. It's a magnificant shot, however, I don't see the effects of weather here. Now, if perhaps, you could have gotten lucky and photographed one of the "puffs" being blowen off by the wind, then yes, you would have met the challenge.
04/14/2003 07:28:53 PM
oh yeah do love this
04/14/2003 07:17:12 PM
A great shot. I can't help but wonder what it would have been like with more of the flower "head" and perhaps even the odd fly-away... a great photo!

04/14/2003 07:16:07 PM
As much as I like this photo, it's hard to tell if there really is wind, or just the illusion of it.
04/14/2003 03:24:58 PM
Fantastic macro......just great focus, light. WOW.....
04/14/2003 02:35:38 PM
This is a terrific picture. The clarity, the subject, the lighting, perfect.

Is it a real plant? It's very creative. 10 from me.
04/14/2003 02:24:53 PM
I like the close up veiw.
04/14/2003 08:39:23 AM
Great detail and a nice composition.
04/14/2003 02:44:17 AM
this dosen't give me a real since of wind, its a great picture though.
04/14/2003 02:03:15 AM
This is an absolutely wonderful shot! I especially like the fine detail and muted colors. Only thing is I do not think this shot says weather in any way.
04/14/2003 01:27:07 AM
Wow, great macro...better stil if a bit of it broke of and flown in the wind ...still a 10 of course
