My Opinion-You walls are starting to sag from the ribbons. I suggest getting a reinforced shelf. :)All kidding aside this is a lovely shot.
These orchids aren't easy to shoot. They edges have a bit of a glow, or color change that can make them look blurred. At least that has been my experience, I even could see that on the ones in the store. You handled that very well.
I like the composition...it's 'in your face'.
As always very good John, a well earned ribbon.

| Congrats on the ribbon. This really is a very nice shot. I confess I gave it a 9, but that was because I interpreted 'Flora' as being plants or flowers in their wild setting. But it is a very good photograph in its own right. The thing that sets it apart, I think, is the arrangement of the three blooms - it almost looks like one bloom looking in different directions (if you see what I mean). Focus and lighting are spot on. What did you light it with, by the way? |

It was a tight race! I'm glad to see that all your studio work the week before paid off... funny though, these were taken outside :-)
I think that your exposure here is perfect. You captured the beauty of these flowers in more then just a photograph, but also your composition leads the viewer into a more peaceful relaxed state, until you look at the center of the middle flower and the illusion of teeth make you realize that even something this beautiful can be dangerous. :-)

| Very pretty, but I'm not sure the black background works. To me it undermines the brightness of the flowers rather than enhancing it. |

| Truly beautiful, no distracting background... a crisp clear photo all over (wonderful use of large DOF) Interesting... great colors, all around a perfect shot! I have to take off for that little grey spot though near the bottom... hehehe J/K. I also like your use of broder, the white with the black around it helps define the fine white line around the subject. Absolutely gorgeous. -10- nice job! |
