 A sandhill crane grooming its feathers. Taken at Roger Williams Park Zoo, Prov, RI. I cropped it until the bird's body and feathers almost filled the frame and the effect pleased me...then I used curves and unsharp mask, blurred the background a little, cloned out some light areas in grass and adjusted brightness and contrast.

Beautiful detail and pose. (I love birds and couldn't find this shot at first, as it's the representative shot of your Animals portfolio.) I remember this shot from the challenge - and gave it a 7. My biggest issue is that the highlights on the neck are a little blown out, otherwise, great shot.

I really like this, it's different from what I've seen so far. Nice texture on the feathers and colors. My only complaint wold be the green is a little harsh

This would be a stronger image if there was some strong feature visible besides feathers (a beak, a well-defined eye, etc.).
