I liked everything about this photo. The way the water curving over her head looks like jello, glistening jewel quality of her suit, the vulnerable beauty of her face and breasts, the bubble of air also with a jewel quality to it. The stillness of her face, with the bubble testifying that this is an airbreathing person, not a mermaid. I would have cropped it to include the rest of her bosom if possible, but otherwise thought it was a beautiful and witty portrait. I didn;t comment during the voting because I expected you would get tons of great comments. After reading a couple of negative comments, I thought I'd go ahead and add mine. I gave it a 7 because I would have liked it cropped a little differently. If you were able to capture it, I would have preferred to include her whole chest. And no, this is not lust. I'm a middle aged woman. :)

Wow. I've noticed that people really like to give bad comments... I think this was a very nice picture despite what some people may say :-) Keep up the good work. Yes that's right this picture was good!!!

This was one of my favorite shots. I gave it a 10. I think you got robbed.

i like it. the blue and orange colors are complimentary.

Does she know you submitted this? It's not very appealing for her, I feel that shooting people isn't about getting them at anything but their best.
06/01/2002 10:10:00 PM
Nice interpretation.

The orange contrasts nicely with the blue of the pool. The nose bubble is hilarious.
05/30/2002 06:07:00 AM
nice one. Other than the unsightly bubble coming out of her nose, this is a well composed and interesting photo
05/29/2002 05:14:00 PM
Great color. NIce and clear. Too bad about that bubble. You know the one.
05/29/2002 05:07:00 PM
Awesome job...
05/29/2002 04:10:00 PM
Very beautiful.... but the sensuality of the scene (the water, the model) is evaporated with that dang nose bubble!
05/29/2002 09:31:00 AM
Great idea! Nice cropping. The air bubbles detract a bit from the shot, but I understand that that's not exactly something you have control over . . .
05/29/2002 02:00:00 PM
The ripple on the water makes the face details stand out. Well done
05/28/2002 09:30:00 PM
and bubbles it looks like
05/28/2002 07:28:00 PM
Unusual treatment of subject matter
05/28/2002 04:46:00 PM
I'm not certain the air bubble coming out of her nose is such a good idea, but the rest of this really works for me. Did you mean to get the camera and yourself in the shot? Water reflections can be tricky that way. Some of the reflections make her forehead appear "mottled".

I tried getting a shot similar to this, so I appreciate the difficulty. Nice and clear! Perfectly caught just as she is emerging from the water!
05/28/2002 03:37:00 PM
This would be awesome, nearly perfect if not for the bubble coming out of her nose. It's a great shot with excellent composition, color, contrast, texture, and balance, but that darn bubble...
05/28/2002 02:47:00 PM
Wow! Nice shot! ( Not sure about the air bubble though) Excellent timing on this one.
05/28/2002 02:03:00 PM
Awesome colors, and great timing. She really looks like she's swimming in a pool full of gel.
05/28/2002 11:09:00 AM
great catch, just breaking the surface; love the air bubbles...would have liked to see the eyes open too but not much you can do about that if the person can't or won't do it, eh?
05/28/2002 10:57:00 AM
i like the concept but the shot needs to be pulled out. You either need to capture her head or her whole body. I also dont like the fact that her head is patially cut off and the bubble that is coming out of her nose looks like a booger.
05/28/2002 10:06:00 AM
The refraction is an interesting effect, but I don't actually like the way it distorts her body. It flattens the perspective and the blue glow makes her look like a corpse! More could have been made of that in an artistic sense, perhaps, if you had been able to experiment with different framing/cropping/post processing effects, but this photo doesn't seem to take advantage of the things the water distortion could achieve.
05/28/2002 08:51:00 AM
It looks like she has a big ole snot bubble coming out of her nose. I'm thinking that she should have wiped her nose before she got in the pool. It looks like there is another snot bubble getting ready to go in her ear. I'm thinkin all these snot bubbles are gross. Are the snot bubbles the 'subject' of this photo or is the subject her boobs? I would have rather seen more boobs and less snot.
05/28/2002 02:45:00 AM
I love the detail you captured on this photograph. One of my 10's for this week.
05/27/2002 08:28:00 PM
Good timing
05/27/2002 06:46:00 PM
think the photo should have been taken closer to the way the design of her suit is reacting with the water, see in the back? it looks really neato, but her face and the cleavage shot seem to take away from it. Abstract with a hand or something would have been pretty cool.
05/27/2002 04:19:00 PM
Wonderful colors, clear, clean shot. Not crazy for the cropping job, but it's good work.
05/27/2002 02:09:00 PM
excellent framing, color, composition. gets an 8 from me.
05/27/2002 01:09:00 PM
Way too much distortion from the water. Is that a bubble or a nose ring?
05/27/2002 09:50:00 AM
more bubbles please
05/27/2002 09:23:00 AM
Good action with the bubble and the water.
05/27/2002 07:07:00 AM
i miss the waves, but love the little bubbles! nice crop, too!
05/27/2002 06:38:00 AM
The idea behnd this is great, but the bubble coming out of her nose is very distracting to me. I love the bright colors and the texture of the water on her hair..... if not for that bubble I would have given you a 10.
05/27/2002 01:19:00 AM
Very graceful picture, the nose bubble kinda bugs me tho.
