Greetings from the Critique Club...

Very nice work... nice lightning photos are always fun :) For me, photos like this one follow the general rules of landscape photography, one of the primary being that you need strong foreground elements. The strip of ground or tree line along the bottom of this image doesn't carry a lot of compositional strength. I realize that the ground is not your subject, but since you included it, it does become part of the composition. You may want to try shots like this at a pre-determined location where you can include a strong foreground... just some food for thought :)

It's probably not fair. I'm very biased. I LOVE lightning pictures. I go nerdy when I see them. This is probably #3 on my top ten lightning pictures list. I love how the clouds light up. Great capture! Thanks!

i wish the photo had been cropped so that it focused more on just the lightning bolts. main focus just seems to be the sky. good idea though

Beautiful, and really creative. I wish you had cropped the grass out, though.

Wonderful idea to use lightning as a "branch". I like the slight blur on the grass at the bottom and the crisp shape of the clouds. The color is kind of muted in this shot, I think it might look nice in black and white.

Wow! The subtle shift from light to dark really balances this shot out well.

Crop the whole left hand side of the shot and the vertical composition and tighter focus on the lightning is much much stronger.

I think we might be pushing the limits of the subject here, but this is a great picture. I have tried to get a god shot of lighting and have gottin few. So on the picture alone, Great Job. I would like it more croped higher

Cool. I like the composition, with the low ground level. Gives a sense of the distance a bolt of lightning has to travel. I like the movement in the ground as well.

Stunning sky. I like the fingers (branches) of lightning. I think you could crop the left third of the shot and still have a nice impactful image.

think cropping off some of the extranious photo on the left would of helped this

i always like lightning shots. this one is no exception. very well done! would have got a perfect 10 if the bushes on the bottom were in better focus, though I do understand that long exposure shots coupled with wind isnt a good combination for this sort of photo. kudos to your patience on taking this photo!! 9
