It's become a bad habbit to request detailed info from critique club. I knew this wasn't a good image. It was just some picture I took while on another mission and found it just before deadline. This was taken on a beutiful day but the lighting conditions for photography were hard. I had to use high iso and the sunlight burned to hard. I didn't have a tripod with me because if i had I could have used lower iso and take the picture on time and also positioned myself better to take a more interesting picture. This is one of my so called drive by shooting pics ;-). Thanks anyway for the comment. |

*Critique Club*
If you entered this only to participate, were you looking for critiques? I see you have found non of the ones you received as helpful, so I'm not really sure what I can add. What were you looking for when you requested the In Depth Critique? Am I wasting my time? Having little details on your image, I have no idea what you were going for with this image. It seems that you really don't care about it much, and to be brutally honest, it shows.
It's definately a branch, however, most of the photo is composed of the trunk, which is really a different part of the tree than the branch. The DOF is nice to get the background out of the way, but I wish focus on the tree itself were better. Seems soft.
Lighting is ok on the background, but dark on the tree, which makes the detail of the tree difficult to see
The tree is interesting, but I don't think you have presented it well. You did a good job of leveling your horizontal lines in the background. This just lacks something to really draw my interest. But judging on your comments, I think you know that.

Nice light and compostion, but this subject lacks intrest to me. Maybe a bit more detail- leaves, say? |

The lighting is harsh and the subject here just doesn't provide enough interest -- |

I would prefer this shot just a touch to the left... there is a tiny bit of green visible about 1/3 up on the right side that is out of place, and if the shot was a touch to the left, that opening would not be visible. |

It's just kind of average |

Simple but not simple enough. Simple to the extreme can set a photo apart, but it comes across as the same as every other branch i've seen a million times. Just lacks a way of getting me interested. I hope this helps. GL |

Great focus and bark texture, the lighting on the subject works well. A little too much of the background is visible though and draws the eye away into the image. Shallower DOF would have helped a lot |

I think the lightin at the time of the photo was working against you. There are a couple of hot spots on the tree. Maybe some warmer lighting and a little less DOF would allow us to focus on the texture of the tree a little more. |

IMO, the main focus (the center of the branching) has too much shadow, slightly different lighting would help this |
