This does indeed make me want to read this article! Nice composition. The bikes lead my eyes to the scene beyond, which is candid, yet interesting, perhaps like this whole place is. I can envision a title like "Bicycling Through Brazil" (or where ever this is). Nice journalistic feel.

Bikes are great - background behind them not so great.
Firstly I\\\'d say that waiting till the shot was free of people would help - especially people with their back to camera and leaving the scene.
Would shallower DOF disguise that? Focus on foreground and more blurred in background?
I think you could also do with losing (cropping) some of the top of the shot out.

This looks very familiar, I am sure I have been here. Amsterdam right? Cool shot - 8.

Is this in Holland? The people in the background draw the viewer's eyes to them and away from the main subject - the bicycles i assume. Should have waited until the people were out of the frame.

very cluttered. I think had you focussed in on one or 2 bikes, this might have had more appeal on the front of a magazine. I think your focus and clarity are ok, but too busy to really see much detail. lighting seems a bit dark, and the colors don't stand out well in this shot. definately bikes though.

Hey de Oudemanhuispoort :). Nice to see the UvA once again.

I would've gone for a lower perspective. Something more unique than just standing next to the rack taking the picture. Good subject, making it a good photo is the goal.

background distracts from subject matter

Interesting idea. I bet that would be a cool story, too. I dig it.

background is a bit busy. take a lower shooting position, or zoom in more, and lose the top of the frame

Damn that bright building! Distracts from the wonderful repetition of all those bikes!

The windows at the back are distracting but I like the idea.6

A bit more light and leave out the people. I like the idea. This shot definitely has potential.

Wow now thats a lot of bikes! Interesting, not sure if it's more a snapshot then really a professional photo for a magazine though. I like the fact you have space at the top for type, though I think getting down and filling the frame with bikes and leaving it so you could have the type over that might have been more effectual for this shot. That's just my opinion though.
