yet another take on an old idea...

I suspended a plastic sphere (large one) and several small marbles in front of an image on my computer monitor. Waited ages for them to stop acting like little pendulums. I was happy to be able to get the spheres all in focus while still keeping the shallow DOF. I wanted to have more marbles floating, but my method (gluing thread to the spheres) did not allow for the stacking I would have needed.

Cloned out hanging threads in PS. Seperate selections on the spheres and the background. Colorized and NeatImaged background to decrease noise and busyness. Some USM at 103 px radius and then at .3 px.

I would have liked a more imaginative title e.g. "In a galaxy far far away..." Ok its a cliche. Cool image, 8

Very nice fractal art piece. I like the selective desat. work. Very interesting piece. Nicely composed. I like the balance of the shot and that you used an odd number for both the foreground and backround elements. I wonder if that was done concisously or not? God work.

An interesting abstract, although perhaps a little too centred.

the marbles look very two-dimentional in this photo to me...almost like they were cut and pasted in. such a cool concept, with the monochromatic fractal in the background and the lovely colored marbles on top of it. not sure that i buy it for a transparant challenge, though...

Very cool. I look forward to reading how this was done once the challenge is over. My favorite part is the large one in the middle and the three on the right hand side.

Wow - I feel like I'm looking at the cover of a Carl Sagan book. Really interesting and very mod. It's quite arftul too. The spirals make you think you're spinning.
