| yeah the 'its not a shadow' was a major factor, according to like 1/2 the comments. also maybe there is anti-middle eastern sentiment floating around? the smoke was from incense and i was trying to get it thick enough so the light beams from the candle shined through, but it just kind of wafted around .. : ) |

Should have done much better then 95th place, but I guess a lot of voters didn't think it was a shadow. Otherwise I can't explain all the low votes.
BTW I just realized that Camel is a sigaretbrand, so I wonder if it actually is smoke and if you put it in on purpose? |

| Very good composition and colors, but the reflections (or smkoke) on the left and the top of the photo are disturbing though. |

| Nice feel to this shot, and very cool lamp, let me know where to get one. I think the slanted black line on the right hand side is a little distracting. With the background it looks like it is in a window, but unless it is a really crooked window sill it coudn't be that way. Score 7 --------- Corey |

| nice, but i think the photo in the background is distracting. it's lighter than the moons and stars on the camel. but then again the contrast to the head wouldn't be so good. |

Shadow relief, good idea. The background "feels" backlit, is it some sort of lighted photo? No downgrading, just curious how.....

| this is a stretch on the shadow idea for me. a little too dark and the background is messed up in placement and with reflections of some sort. To me it looks like the camel is in front of an airplane window...it doesn't make sense!! I must be blind. Maybe I'll like it more when you post your details. I'll be coming back to look at them. |

| I know there was this whole long discussion going on on shadow vs. sillhouette (I finally stopped following it). I think sillhouette does not qualify for shadow, and your photo falls into that category, unfortunately. Apart from that, I like the camel, the idea with the background is great, but overall, the shot is a little too dark (and that may be impossible to change w/out loosing the candle light shining through the patterns). |

| Nice silhouette with interesting color and a very nice background that is blurred just right. There is some weird reflection or something messing up the upper part of the background, otherwise this is very good. |
