Hi Matt, Greetings from the critique club.

Not a lot I can say about this superb shot that already hasn't been said. It grabs your attention immediately with it's vibrant colours, composition is excellent. Certainly meets the challenge well.

The only thing that could have improved this for me is to have seen more of the boats, the reflection of the sun and sky in the water.

A very beautiful, well done sunrise image that would look great decorating a wall. Congrats on your well deserved 7th place. Good work!!

Go you Aussie! Used to live by Rushcutter's Bay, but never got a chance to shoot something like this. Wonderful.

My favourite in the whole challenge. The silhouettes are just right, subtle enough so the scne isn't blocked up with black but solid enough to contrast with the sky and the rising sun. This could hang on the wall of the yacht club quite happily!

Sunrise doesn't happen in Sydney until about 5.37am, even civil twilight doesn't happen until after 5.00am. Great shot and worth a 10 but doesn't really fit the challenge, so 5 only.

My father has often been heard to say "Life's a bitch and then the wind comes up." The capture of the rising sun is very good. 9

What a beautiful shot. I like the lines of the boats - would work well in a tourism brochure.

nice photo.... no better than that ~ 7
but the sun didn't rise till 5.37 this week :) and this wasn't taken on Sunday or Monday mornings as there was a lot more cloud than that
hahaha I forgot about you don't have daylight saving in Queensland :)

i would have score hirer if there was a more obvious sigh of boats attached to those masts

Surprised not to see more sunrise shots in the challenge but this more than makes up for the lack of quantity by having great quality. Love the shot, only to nitpick I would have wanted to see the top of the masts of most of the boats except for the one to the left since you have so much of the masts in the shot. Other than that, extremely pleasing to the eye and I gave you an 8.

Beautiful...the masts make a stark contrast with the sky. Very nice.

Nicely done. Only comment might be to see if you could bring the brightness of the actual sun down just a tad (but just a personal pref. Wouldnt consider it a technical thing)

I love this area of Brisbane, I lived in Redland shire for several years and ate fish'n'chips many times across the road from the Yacht Club. Great photo.

I love Manly, Australia, so I am really pleased to see such a great photo of the ships masts with the golden sun behind them. Great composition and a super shot as well.........Perfect timing.
