Tried every lens in the book, i mean bag. I was inspired by this image - //www.fujimugs.com/challenge/show_entry.php?challenge=49&sortby=chlg&srch=&cam=&favs=&entry=4614#entry
and I like the color version of mine better, but the B&W fits the challenge a bit better as the model is wearing a red shirt which distracts from the crayon/hand.
Used halogen hot lights and a diffuser, black acrylic for the table (got some nice reflection shots too) Shot in RAW, -17 exposure adjustment, then moved to PS for USM, desat, slight crop on the lower edge, resize, curves, USM, save for web. |

Greetings from the Critique Club
You were well rewarded by the voters for this very nice image. It certainly meets the requirements of the Challenge perfectly and is beautifully interpreted.
I like the good sharpness of the model's hand along with the good definition of the printing fading very abruptly to the blurred out background. The forward placement of the in-focus features works very well.
The interesting part here, is that the intense concentration of your model shows through even through the blur. This adds to the tension and the story telling atmosphere of the image, and perhaps gave the extra 'wow' factor to this image.
So, I congratulate you on an excellent image and on maintaining the interest of your young model through what must have been multiple exposures.

I like this concepe a lot, but why B&W? A child writing to Santa at Xmas makes me think happy and colorful. the B&W almost make this feel sad... Still a great photo though. |
