Who knows why I did it again....I think it is, I hope, a good representation of the technique. I had a great picture of these ornaments that I did for the Holiday Catalog Challenge but thought it too dark and went with the poinsettia. So I thought I would use them in this with the net. The set up is fairly the same Net Shot Gerbera X and Rover Net except the for the black background and I set the net lower to accommadate the position of the ornaments in the shooting area. Lit with two clamp lamps on the same level as the ornaments each with a 100w halogen bulb and no diffusion.
The drops were trying, again, but I am getting it down. I did a session the night before where the pattern was nice but would have called for some editing outside the basic guidelines in order to straighten the pattern out. This pattern did not. I have only a slight problem with the one drop on the bottom row that is not complete filling in the hole, but it breaks the pattern a bit for a little surprise or character.
Post. Open. Crop to 1:25:1 aspect ratio...otherwise this is a full crop. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. USM. Resize. USM.
Well I'm off to see if I can do it better one more time....If I don't get back, hope you like this one. Happy Holidays!
Well, I'm back...I did not like the focus on the first submission...It tried to reset the drops and they were just not cooperating. SO....I went throught tonight's shoot and picked through and went with this one. It was shot in Super Macro mode on the camera with a 10x close up filter. There is no zoom on super macro so you get as close as you can and for the best. But this has the best focus and is I like the composition of the drops to the background. This is a big crop. Choped to 1:25:1 from the original in landscape and then to 1:25:1 portrait....it's a little off, too ...I'll have to fix it if it goes to print. The rest of the processing is the same as noted above.
OK that's it....Happy Holidays! |

Robert :) Your images are almost easily spotted from the crowd :) Great image. Is it just me or you used a glucose mix here because the dew drops are a bit cloudy and not as clear as your previous ones? Great image nevertheless. 8 |

This is very interesting and suggests quite a bit of thought and planning. I think I would like this better if the top were cropped to eliminate the edges of the chicken wire (if that is indeed what this is). The empty space at the top and the jagged edges bother me. |
