It looks like the chihuahua influence is greatest in her muzzle and the pug is responsible for the build. Nice shot - I love the slanting bars of sunlight. |

Her profile says chihuahua, her wrinkled fur says pug. I love how dogs turn out. |

I've had dogs all my life, mostly mutts. One of my favorite was a Border Collie & Australian Shepherd, could catch a frisbee 6ft in the air....Nice shot. |

Usually I agree with the general final placement of the images I critique -- but this one should have finished in the top half at least.
The latticework creates an interesting repeating pattern for the portrait to break up -- but what makes this photo special is the backlit portrait has been cast into a near silhouette that really accentuates that the head is the main subject and everything else is only there to accent the head.
To this end, I come to my only regret for this photo (aside from the final placement); the partial desat. IMO, the single splash of color serves only to pull my eyes from the head.
While I like the silhouette, portraits are made or broken on their treatment of the eyes. I fear you lost votes due to not being able to decern the eyes. As Judy mentioned below, even if it was just a glint of light in the eyes, the photo would have been much better received. Of course, that is just my take on it -- could be wrong.

The patternes created by light really enahcne this photo and keep it visually appealing for me. I like the bit of color on the color. Fits the challenge too. Nicely done. 8 |

The fuschia collar is a nice single color in this one. Great patterns on the wall and the dog's neck and back. I wish I could see the eyes just a little with a glint. |

the face of the dog is a little too dark IMO, but I love how the lines come out & selective colors. |

Alright I have to comment on this photo. I just went back over this photo with my wife, and I was telling her how it has completely grown on me. I have already bumped this thing up twice, from a 6 to a 7, and then to an 8 now. I love its composition, there are just a couple technicals that need to be worked out, I wont mention them, because Im sure you already know, and besides that I dont want to take away from how much I adore this shot. GJ, and GL. |
