 I'd like to be able to say that this ornament broke accidentally, and then I thought of this challenge, but no... I sacrificed this poor little ornament for the challenge.

Blurry foreground might be too distracting, and I can't get the white of the background any whiter without distorting the entire image any further.

All auto settings on camera including macro.
Kitchen overhead light - only lighting used.

Editing: crop, gamma, contrast, blackpoint, whitepoint, despeckle, sharpen, re-size and border.

This just goes to show you don't need lots of equipment to get a fine result like this picture. Great use of DOF! Congrats on your first ribbon!

Wow - gorgeous colors and tones - great range of contrasts without seeming overdone. I can see why this got a ribbon, though I didn't have a chance to vote. :) Beautiful, beautiful shot. Congrats!

Congratulations on getting a ribbon on your 10th challenge entry. You do amazing things with ordinary, everyday subjects. This was a great shot for the season. The fact that you ribboned without a high-end camera or special lighting should be an encouragement to all of us.

The coloring and the lighting came out very well in this photo, the contrast of the red and the silver from the inside of the ball offset each other well.
