 This is one of my favorite barns in the Niagara Peninsula. I find it very difficult to photograph because of the barn's brightness. This is the west side and in February (when this shot was taken) the wall is pretty much catches direct sunlight at sunset. The wall just seems to reflect the sunlight and the dynamic range can be very difficult. To help with this, I used graduated ND filters.

This particular shot was just seconds before the sun hit the horizon. The glow was amazing and it turned the corn stalks into an amazing gold colour. I just kept hitting the remote shutter release while freezing in the -11 Celcius cold.

The light was incredible on this night and kept getting better and better as the sun edged toward the horizon. This was the last shot I took on this day.

I had been waiting weeks for there to be no clouds in the southwest sky but cloud cover in the northeast sky. I rushed home to process the shots so that I could get the colours as close to reality while the image was still fresh in my mind.

Anyway, I've been lucky enough to have this photo win a local photo show and do pretty good at a gew other photo sites.

I like this. The farm house on the ROT interesection, and the dark clouds juxaposed against the crops in the foreground.

Very nice early morning colours, and a good composition. I think maybe something more prominant in the foreground to add interest there would help, but as its stands it's still a great shot!
